I am right now pursuing M.A. in English Literature from a University by correspondence mode. I would like to do B.Ed in English or Social Science. I am keen on pursuing a teacher's profession in English or my mother tongue. What do have I to do for this? How can I attain a government job or a private but Government-aided job in this field?
Nirmala Andrews
If you are interested in becoming a Lecturer in a college, you will not require B.Ed. However, qualifying in the National Eligibility Test of the University Grants Commission (held in June and December every year) or pursuing M.Phil and Ph.D. would become essential qualifications.
On completion of B.Ed you could aspire to become a school teacher. You could join the Department of Public Instruction as a teacher in a government school or even a private one. You should watch out for the recruitment as and when it happens. Eligibility for B.Ed is graduation. Pursuing B.Ed in the regular mode will help in making you realise your ambition.
You should apply for the UGC-NET and qualify for the post of Lecturer in a degree college and build up a career.

In my academic career I have got the following percentages: 10th (57.8), Plus Two (80.3) and Graduation/B.Com (58). Will the scores impact my chances of getting placed during campus recruitment if I do MBA from an institute of repute? Do companies give importance to graduation score for MBA placements?
Avinash Mathur
The corporate HR teams that do the recruitment want the best for their organisations. Hence parameters like percentage scores are considered. However, for a practical person who can think out of the box, the HR folks will surely make avenues for recruitment.
One way to succeed is to pursue a final project in a company of repute and excel. In most business schools, the final semester project and the learning received in the organisation is considered for future recruitment.
If the student does contribute in a manner desirable, the organisation will directly provide an offer letter and ensure recruitment.
Hence there is no need to get perturbed about the procedures of recruitment.
I am having difficulties in getting the provisional degree certificate following the completion of a degree programme in the correspondence mode three years ago. What should I do?

All the Universities that conducted Distance Learning programmes ensure that the study material, testimonials and degree certificates reach the learners without any glitch.
In your case there may have been some glitches in the form of change in mailing address, non-payment of degree certificate fees etc.
If you have already received all the marks sheets for the years of study, write to the Controller of Examinations of the University with photocopies of the testimonials. You will get a reply for the same, after which you can contemplate further action.
