I am pursuing a program for mid-career professionals from an IIM. This is a one-year program, which can be construed as a specialization. I am presently in a manufacturing firm and my HR to whom I had reported the same informed me that if statutory bodies do not approve the program, the company will not recognize the same. Please advice as to how I should tackle the situation.
Prateek Inamdar
Many professionals who are in their mid-careers are pursuing programs from leading management and technology institutions. Some are also pursuing online programs from overseas institutions. IIMs are autonomous bodies of the Government, and unlike the other business schools (autonomous or affiliated to a University) and do not come under the ambit of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Make this very clear to the HR department in your organization. The program that you are pursuing is primarily meant for experienced professionals who have adequate work experience. Pursuing a program of this nature from IIMs or leading business schools has its own uniqueness and one should leverage the learning to catapult oneself to better corporate positions.
