The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Service Examination every year. The basic criteria for eligibility to the Civil Services, which is the backbone of the Indian administrative set-up, is graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. Candidates having professional and technical qualifications recognised by the government are also eligible.
Percentage secured in the examinations do not count, your performance in the Preliminary will lead you to the Main examinations.
Once you qualify in the Mains, the UPSC will invite you to the Personal Interview. On completion of the Interview, based on the rank list you will be allotted the services in the categories of Group A and Group B.
What matters most in the UPSC Civil Service Examination is the choice of Optionals and the way the papers are attempted. All-round knowledge is most essential for the examination.
