Gulmarg: The Department of Sports and the Department of Tourism of the Jammu and Kashmir Government has plans to project the state as an ideal golf destination.
In this regard, promotional activities are being undertaken to woo international golfers to the Gulmarg Golf Course, which has been equipped with world-class facilities.
Minister of State for Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani recently said the Gulmarg Golf Course would be ready and functional in the current tourist season.
While inspecting the ongoing work at the golf course, Wani said the project should be completed at the earliest.
Wani has already inspected ongoing preparations at the Pahalgam Golf Course.
Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah and Mr. Ranjit Nanda, Consultant to Gulmarg Golf Course and Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Atal Dulloo were present at the venue.
Wani stressed the need for creatinge multifarious infrastructural facilities to woo tourists to the State.
“Golfing has the potential to emerge as a major tourist activity in the State. Once golf courses at Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sidhra become operational, we will be able to attract a totally new class of sports and adventure lovers to the State,” he stated.
The visits to Pahaglam and Gulmarg golf courses were undertaken on the instructions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who heads the task force constituted for the early completion of these projects. |
